Mile 25 Just Got A Whole Lot Better: New Balance's London Run House Is Open This Weekend
New Balance, official partner of the London Marathon, has taken over Somerset House for the weekend. Here's what's on, and why it's worth visiting whether you're racing or not.
Mile 25 of the London Marathon can be absolutely gruelling. You're exhausted, your legs feel like lead and you may be unlucky enough to be battling a blister or five. Yet the crowd, the adrenaline and the knowledge that the finish line is within reach will rally around you to keep going. This year, New Balance, the official apparel and footwear partner of the London Marathon, has added some extra encouragement, transforming Mile 25's landmark Somerset House into the London Run House: a celebration of community, craft and performance.
From Friday 25th to Sunday 27th April, expect immersive workshops, panel discussions, installations and documentary screenings, all in celebration of London and its running communities. It's open to everyone, whether you're running the marathon, cheering on a friend or simply curious to take a look around. The message at its heart? "Running culture is shaped not only by elite performance, but by the communities who move the sport forward every day," says New Balance.
A bar and lounge will keep you fuelled, compression boots and massage guns are on hand for post-marathon recovery, medals can be engraved in commemoration of the achievement, and T-shirts stamped and printed. Plus, an impressive roster of workshops has been put together to keep you calm and build your running knowledge, and you can even join the team for a sunset 5km on Saturday or a pilates and stretch session the afternoon after the marathon.
For the love of running, it's well worth a visit. Just be sure to sign up in advance here for any sessions you have your eye on.
