Savoury Super Seed Mix

An easy recipe that my team and I developed for Volonté is our savoury Super Seed Mix. I love to sprinkle it over salads, soups and balance bowls — or simply enjoy it as a snack on the go. Many people reach for trail mixes, and this is a great alternative that can help curb salty hunger pangs. The recipe below makes around 1kg, which can be stored in an airtight container for up to one month.

Ingredients

  • 400g Sunflower seeds
  • 400g Pumpkin seeds
  • 100g Flax seeds
  • 100g chopped Walnuts (optional)
  • 50ml Olive oil
  • 30gr Salt
  • 20gr Black pepper
  • 20gr Garlic granules
  • 20gr Cumin powder
  • 20gr chilli powder

Method

1. Put all the seeds in a baking tray, drizzle the oil and seasonings and mix everything well.

2. Let it roast in the oven for about 30 minutes at a medium temperature of around 150 degrees. Test to see if they are crunchy after 25 minutes — if not, let them roast a bit longer.

3. Once they are cooled, fill them into an airtight container and sprinkle on top of all your favourite dishes to add a healthy fats boost or keep in your bag as a snack.
